Pride and Prejudice Marvel Comic
First there was a Jane Eyre graphic novel/comic. Now there's P&P. I've seen people tweeting this and blogging it all day, so here it is. If I were feeling snootier/more feministy, I'd grumble and moan about one of the greatest treasures of the literary canon being reduced to a crappy she-mag. But in my current mellow state, I'm inclined to think it's less threatening to Austen's legacy than, say, Becoming Jane was.

Didn't know they were making comics like that again. when i was a child, i read David copperfield in comic form, and it was pretty nice. Have read the book Jane Eyre. It was my sister's favorite, I liked it but not as much as she did.
ReplyDeleteI'm willing to give it a chance. If for no other reason than I'm the kind of person who is really fascinated by reinterpretations of literature, however crappy they might be.
ReplyDeleteI actually just saw the Jane Eyre graphic novel last weekend at a bookstore and skimmed through it. It looked decent, and I might buy it this weekend.
