Quick Link: Brontë in Hollywood

Over at Brontë-blog, a roundup of news about new Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights projects coming to the big screen sometime in the near-ish future. It includes some casting info you're not going to want to miss. Perfect timing, because I was just thinking about how we've been neglecting EBC heroines the Brontës a bit in favor of other EBC heroines Austen and Gaskell.

  1. Actually the thought of another Jane Eyre movie makes me want to stick a fork in my eye. I wish Hollywood & BBC would realize that there's more 19th cent. author's out there. Or even dare I say try American Lit. I'd love to see more Hawthorne or Twain. Maybe eve try 20th cent and give us some adaptations of the works of Willa Cather. How about more Laura Ingalls Wilder?
    Okay I'll stop ranting.

  2. That's such a good point. How many freaking Jane Eyre adaptations are there going to be before they even attempt Villette or Shirley or the Professor?
