Thus asks Sam Jordison at the Guardian, who adds that he'd put nearly every single Booker Prize-winning book on his list! Harsh.It's all very well to make lists of the decade's best books, but surely the worst books would give future generations a truer glimpse of the 'noughties. Let's name and shame.
So have at it, readers. What books, published between 2000 and now, have been terrible, or overrated, or otherwise unreadable?
In general I don't read books that I don't like or are no good. Life's too short and there's too many books. However here's some books that I read this decade that I felt were a waste of my time:

ReplyDeleteI have to be pretty sure I'm going to get something out of a book before I'll read it. Maybe it comes from having to take all those college English classes in which the pretentious Professor forced me to read what THEY thought was brilliant. bleck
I was very disappointed to discover that I found Laurie Sheck's Monster's Notes to be highly overrated. I thought I was going to love it. I went in with really high expectations. And about halfway through, I got bored. I finished the whole thing, but it felt like homework. I'm not sure why I did, I just kept hoping it would get better.
